Super simple and delicious oats breakfast recipe

Simple oats breakfast bowl

This oatmeal recipe is a super quick and easy to make breakfast option that is a regular at our house,

For a hassle-free morning routine, follow the recipe ;)

Ingredients (1 serving)

1 cup Oats* of your choice

½ tbsp of preferred seeds - we take flax, pumpkin and sunflower seeds

½ tsp of cinnamon powder**

2 - 3 dates without seeds 2 - 3 almonds or nuts of your choice

Assorted variety of fruits*** - Mango, Papaya or Banana separately or all together

1 cup of milk - Just enough to dunk all of the oatmeal.

*We use the Saffola oats as it doesn’t get soggy quickly or doesn’t remain undercooked.

** I have used Chocolate powder as well, much to the chagrin of my husband :P. However you will have to add sugar to this, thus making it probably ‘unhealthy’ as some ‘people’ think so.

*** You can use fruits as per your taste. Papaya usually appears to curdle the milk, so we put it in right before we eat, thus ensuring it stays fresh.

Process

As you pour the milk in a pan and boil it, assemble the rest of ingredients into your trusty bowl. First comes your oatmeal, then the fruits topped with the seeds, dates and cinnamon powder. There is no mandate to follow this particular order. It looks appealing aesthetically.

After the milk boils, let it stay for 2 to 3 minutes, till the layer of fat forms over the surface. This is often seen as a thin blanket over the milk and brings to mind moments of disgust or anguish for some, when accidentally sipping it up with one’s tea or coffee. You may discard this blanket skilfully using a spoon and pour the warm milk into your bowl. Pour just enough to dunk the oatmeal and seeds (which will be floating now) and ensure the fruit remains visible. Milk can also be poured according to your taste and preference. No rules here. Let the bowl sit for a while so that the oatmeal is perfectly done and not soggy.

Voila! You have a bowl of Special Oatmeal Breakfast. Now dig in.
