#DayTripsFromKochi Part 4: Windmills!

Windmill at Chathurangapara view point
Few of the huge windmills

The idea of this series is to give suggestions for day trips from Kochi - places you can go, enjoy, and come back within the day. Today, it’s windmills! 2 of them. Both of them are nearly close to each other, and you can choose either of them.

Chathurangarapara view point - 122kms, 3hr 25 min

Ramakkalmedu (Kattadi Padam) - 130 kms 3hr 40min

Bonus - Naalu mala - 125kms , 3hr 40min

I strongly suggest leaving really early or early enough to get breakfast from a nice place on the way. If you’re going through

This time we visited Chathurangapara on our way to Suryanelli which is a fantastic one-night stay plan too (Suggestion: KFDC Suryanelli). The roads are fantastic and the views are even better. The windmill spots also have many stays nearby. The road along the Periyar river is one of my favourite roads ever. Upon reaching Chathurangapara you may see Jeep drivers hawking at the entrance with fake warnings and scare tactics. Do not mind them, if your vehicle has decent enough ground clearance you can take it to the very top and get nice pictures too. If you’re scared I’d suggest just walk than letting these scaremongers have your money.

If you need proper off-road go to Naalu mala or Ulupunni.

The view up the hills is mesmerising and the best part was little to no crowd at the top. You can spend a of time here just enjoying the breeze.
